In August 2023, Chairperson Yang Tingting and CEO Zhang Liqiang were invited to attend the BRICS Western Cape Business Forum. The forum was hosted by Wesgro, the Western Cape development agency. Nomalungelo Gina, Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa, and Lerato Mataboge, Deputy Director General attended.

In line with the theme “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism”, the forum, with the theme of Inward Buying and Investment Mission, aims to promote trade cooperation and attract foreign investment to promote deeper economic ties among BRICS countries.

Nomalungelo Gina, Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa, delivered keynote speech

Nomalungelo Gina said that the delegation of entrepreneurs, as international buyers and relevant partners in South Africa, was significant in fostering business partnerships, promoting South Africa's value-added exports and showcasing existing investment opportunities in South Africa.

Mr. Anton Kruger, Chief Executive Officer of Fresh Produce Export Forum, delivered a speech

The forum featured specific panel discussions on how to approach trade and investment in the Western Cape Province, with around 20 exporters on hand to meet and discuss.
