The Greater Mekong Sub-region Economic Cooperation (GMS) is a sub-regional economic cooperation mechanism involving six countries in the Lancang-Mekong river basin, namely China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Its purpose is to strengthen economic ties among the countries of the subregion and promote the common economic and social development. Secretary General Yang Tingting organized a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs to attend the meeting and participate in related activities.
The sixth Leaders' Meeting of the Greater Mekong Sub-Region Economic Cooperation (GMS) has been held in Hanoi, Vietnam. Leaders from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as representatives from the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and other institutions attended the meeting and related activities.
The theme of the conference is "Leveraging 25 Years of Cooperation to Build a Sustainable, Integrated and Prosperous GMS".
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a speech at the sixth Leaders' Meeting of the Greater Mekong Sub-Region Economic Cooperation (GMS) in Hanoi, Vietnam. He said the GMS has grown into a sub-region with the strongest growth and the best cooperation momentum in Asia over the past 25 years. We should sum up experience, seize opportunities and open up new prospects for sub-regional development. We need to promote stronger economic growth and break new ground in tapping new drivers of growth.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended closed-door meetings, large-scale meetings, business summits and other major events and held bilateral meetings with participating leaders.
After the meeting, Chinese entrepreneurs said that the Greater Mekong River is the most potential development space in Asia, and they should firmly seize the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road initiative and the Mekong Sub-region to promote bilateral and multilateral practical cooperation. By participating in this event, the entrepreneurs fully understood the business opportunities and the importance of the sub-region. At the same time, the international conference also helped to broaden their vision and recognize many entrepreneurs with outstanding performance, great development potential and innovative spirit, injecting new blood into cooperation.
