On February 14, 1972, China and Mexico formally established diplomatic relations. After half a century of ups and downs, China Mexico relations have been strengthened over time, fruitful cooperation in various fields has been achieved, and the comprehensive strategic partnership has been deepened day by day. Together, they have forged an unbreakable friendship. Mexican Ambassador to China Eduardo Shiyade welcomed the ambassadors to China, entrepreneurs, academic experts, Mexican compatriots in the overseas Chinese community and guests attending the reception. He said that Mexico is a country fully committed to multilateralism and open trade, and has signed free trade agreements with as many as 45 countries. Under the leadership of Priest Miguel Hidalgo, the hero of the War of Independence, and Priest Jose Maria Morelos, Mexico has established an independent, strong and united nation.
He said that under the influence of globalization, Mexico has found China as a bosom friend and an important strategic partner. Mexico's successive ambassadors to China have devoted their efforts to bilateral relations day after day. From the top industry to the richest cuisine, entrepreneurs, students, academics, professionals and chefs from Mexico show the best of Mexico in this beautiful country. I would like to thank all of you for showing what Mexicans are proud of in this great and far away country, and for making every effort to establish a stronger and more mutually beneficial bilateral relationship.
Subsequently, Mexico donated to China a large interactive sculpture named "Wings of Mexico", which was produced by Jorge Marin, a well-known Mexican sculptor. As a symbol of Mexico China friendship, this sculpture will be permanently displayed in Beijing.
