On the morning of July 31st, 2023, the High-Level Dialogue of Guyana-China Joint Business Development Council was successfully held in Beijing. Guyana's President Mohamed Irfaan Ali attended and delivered a keynote speech, and Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), attended and delivered a speech. Guyana's Foreign Minister Hugh Hilton Todd, Ambassador Zhou Yaxin, and Guo Haiyan, Ambassador of China to Guyana, attended the Dialogue. CEO Zhang Liqiang attended the Dialogue.

Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, delivered a keynote speech

President Ali said that the government attaches great importance to attracting foreign investment and developing trade, and is committed to promoting economic diversification and sustainable development. Guyana is rich in forestry, minerals, energy, agriculture, tourism and other resources, and is willing to further strengthen practical economic and trade cooperation with China, especially in the field of supply chain, to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. The Guyanese side encourages Guyanese enterprises to participate in the first China International Supply Chain Expo and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Guyana. During the question and answer session, President Ali also personally interacted with Chinese enterprises.

Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the CCPIT, delivered a speech

Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), said that the two economies are highly complementary, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on jointly building the Belt and Road in 2018 has added new impetus to the rapid development of bilateral economic and trade relations. It is hoped that enterprises of the two countries will tap the potential of trade growth, unleash the driving forces of investment cooperation, improve infrastructure connectivity and continuously strengthen practical cooperation. The CCPIT is willing to make greater contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, and welcomes Guyana to attend the first China International Supply Chain Expo.

More than 130 people including government officials, business leaders and media representatives of the two countries attended the Dialogue.
