On October 12th, 2023, the Embassy of Spain hosted the National Day Reception. Spain Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Rafael Dezcallar and Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo presented and delivered speeches. Chairperson YANG Tingting and CEO ZHANG Liqiang were invited to attend the reception.

At the reception, Spanish specialty cuisine was prepared, including Spanish flavored red wine and champagne, and a band played Spanish music for the invited guests.

In 2021, Spain was China's fifth largest trading partner in the European Union, and China was Spain's largest trading partner outside the EU and main economic and trade partner in Asia. The total trade volume between the two countries reached 48.414 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 27.7%. Their trade and economic cooperation has been continuously deepening and developing.
