On May 27, 2024, a delegation from Ansheng International was invited to visit the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Cuba and had an in-depth communication with the officials about the trade with and investment in Cuba in the field of energy and minerals. Mr. Román Ramírez, Deputy Director of the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines, Mr. Ramon Lopez Ramos, Business Director of state-owned enterprise Electricity Union(UNE), and Mr. José A. Suárez, Senior Business Specialist of UNE, attended the meeting.
Mr. Ramon Lopez Ramos, gave a detailed presentation on the development of the power sector and the national power development plan of Cuba. He said that Cuba currently relies mainly on fossil fuels for power generation, which is costly. In order to safeguard national energy security and change the current situation of Cuba's high dependence on imported energy, the Cuban government has attached great importance to the development of renewable energy in recent years, and has proposed to utilize biomass, wind, solar and other methods to increase the proportion of renewable energy power generation to 30% by 2030. The development of renewable energy aims at gradually reducing the proportion of imported energy, realizing energy self-sufficiency and inject impetus for economic development.

Ms. YANG Tingting said that the natural and geographical conditions of Cuba provide favorable conditions for its development of renewable energies such as solar, wind and biomass, and the technology of the relevant industries is precisely the field in which China has advantages. Ansheng International is willing to utilize its own advantages to promote trade and investment with Cuba in the field of energy and minerals, seize the opportunity to enter the Cuban market, and take Cuba as a pivot point to further develop the market in the Caribbean region.
