On December 10, The China-Philippines International Economy Trade and Culture Exchange Forum was successfully held in Xi 'an, Shaanxi Province, the ancient capital of a thousand years and the starting point of the Silk Road. With the theme of "Promoting Local and International Exchanges and Cooperation in Various Fields", the forum held in-depth and practical dialogues on China-Philippines cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, tourism, education and agriculture, providing opportunities for the globalization development of enterprises of the two countries.
The forum supported by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, co-hosted by China Service Center for Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines,Shaanxi People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Foreign Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government, organized by Baigongfang Handcrafts Museum and Shaanxi Wanzhi Media Technology Co., Ltd.
YuanMindao, Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries,H.E. Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana, Philippine Ambassador to China, Zhao Gang, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and Yu Sufujiang, Executive Deputy Mayor of Xi'an City attended the forum and delivered a speech. More than 100 representatives of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, Department of Culture and Tourism, CCPIT, Foreign Affairs Offices of various cities,Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries of various provinces, experts and scholars and enterprises representatives attended the meeting.
Yuan mindao said in his address, that China and the Philippines, facing each other across the sea, are close neighbors in exchanges for thousands of years.Recent years have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries.Chinese President Xi Jinping has paid a state visit to the Philippines and Philippine President Duterte attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China twice. The two heads of state made joint plans for the future development of bilateral relations and agreed to establish a comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship based on mutual respect, honesty, equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.This year marks the 45th anniversary of china-Philippines diplomatic ties.Over the past 45 years, thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results.China is the Philippines' largest trading partner, third largest export market and largest source of imports.Last year, 1.74 million Chinese tourists visited the Philippines, making it the second largest source of tourists to the Philippines.Since the outbreak of COVID-19 earlier this year, the governments and people of China and the Philippines have extended a helping hand to each other and worked together to fight the epidemic, demonstrating the friendship of close neighbors who look out for each other. China-Philippines relations have opened a new chapter, bringing benefits to the two peoples and contributing to regional peace and stability.
H.E. Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana said that 45 years ago, the Philippines and China established diplomatic relations based on the shared aspiration for peace, stability and prosperity. Since then, the two countries have respected each other and promoted cooperation.On trade and economic cooperation, the relations between the Philippines and China became more interlinked over time.China has successfully brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control and resumed production and set an example for us.I firmly believe that the pandemic will eventually pass and Philippine-China cooperation will play an important role in the Philippines' efforts to restore economic growth.
Zhao Gang, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government said in his speech that after the outbreak of COVID-19 this year, the governor of Batangas Province of the Philippines which is a sister city of Shaanxi province sent his condolences immediately.Since then, with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides have donated anti-pandemic materials to each other, which fully reflects the friendship of helping each other and overcoming difficulties together. We hope to take this forum as an opportunity to further deepen the practical cooperation between Shaanxi and the Philippines both at a higher level and wider range of fields, so as to achieve mutual benefit and common development.
Yu Sufujiang, Executive Deputy Mayor of Xi'an City, proposed that the Philippines and Xi'an comprehensively promote economic and trade cooperation, deepen cooperation in the field of tourism and actively carry out exchanges and cooperation in the field of education.
Before the forum, Zhao Gang, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, Romana, Philippine Ambassador to China, YuanMindao, Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries,Yu Sufujiang, Executive Deputy Mayor of Xi'an City and other guests visited the poverty alleviation agricultural products exhibition area of Shaanxi Province, the exhibition area of the Philippine Embassy in China and the exhibition area of Chinese and Philippine enterprises.
At this forum, Philippine Ambassador to China led Senior diplomat, including Commercial Counsellor Mr. Glenn G. Peñaranda, Agriculture Counsellor Ms. Ana GM B. Abejuela, Tourism Attaché Dr. Erwin F. Balane to promote investment and trade cooperation opportunities in the Philippines.
Ambassador Romana, Executive Vice President Wu Zexian of China Society of International Friends and Chairman, Larry Chan, Chairman of Liwayway (China) Co., Ltd. also held in-depth dialogue on "New Opportunities for China-Philippines Exchange and Cooperation in the Post-epidemic Era".
During the forum, Batangas International Trade Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Coal Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. Xi'an Railway Vocational & Technical Institute presented a project proposal to Philippine Embassy in China.
During the enterprise road show, representatives of Liwayway (China) Co., Ltd., SM Group, New Hope Liuhe Co.,Ltd., Baigongfang Handcrafts Museum, Global Good Thing, Future International Beijing Yixun Ideal Technology Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Brahma Fungology Co., Ltd. gave a road show and introduced the general situation and development of the enterprise.
The forum, under the theme of "Silk Road EXpress -- Promoting Local and International Exchanges and Cooperation in Various Fields", held in-depth dialogues on Philippine national investment policies, economy and trade, culture, agriculture, tourism, education and other cooperation areas. In the future, the organizing committee will continue to promote the cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and foreign countries, and make unremitting efforts to make "Silk Road" bear fruitful results.
