The delegation was led by Nomalungelo Gina, Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, and Thabani Zulu, CEO of Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone, as part of the BRICS Business Forum series of visits.

The head of Richards Bay said that this industrial development zone attracts local and foreign direct investment to gain access to advanced production and technology methods from abroad, so as to learn from global manufacturing and production experience. Members of the BRICS delegation expressed their willingness to invest in RBIDZ in KwaZulu-Natal, with a focus on renewable energy and coal exports.
