In August 2023, Chairperson Yang Tingting and CEO Zhang Liqiang were invited to attend the BRICS Manufacturing Forum. The forum is one of a series of sectoral meetings planned for the BRICS Trade Fair and the BRICS Business Council.

The Manufacturing Forum focused on financing mechanisms to support industrial value chains, promoting green manufacturing, establishing resilient industrial value chains and regional manufacturing hubs in South Africa, and green industrialisation.

Ebrahim Patel, the Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, delivered keynote address

Ebrahim Patel said that BRICS members have a key role to play in harnessing both green industrialization which is one of the themes for the session, and digital industrialization to transform economies and societies and the lives of citizens. South Africa is ready to partner with all of the BRICS countries on the development of new energy vehicles and sharing of technologies of raw materials of capital and market experiences in a mutually beneficial partnership.
