Ansheng International visited the geothermal power plant in Berlin, El Salvador

On May 22, 2024, Ansheng International delegation was invited to have a visit to the geothermal power plant in Berlin Tecapa area, 106 km east of its capital San Salvador. The delegation was received by experts and specialists from CEL and representatives from LaGeo, the operator of the plant.

Birdview of the Plant

This geothermal power plant was put into operation in 1992 with a installed capacity of 145MW. At present, there are three units in operation, two units from Japan with the capacity of 28.12MW each and one unit from Italy with the capacity of 44MW. The plant covers an area of eight square meters and has 37 drills ranging from 500 meters to 3455 meters.

El Salvador is famous for its geothermal power and is named as the country of volcano. There are two geothermal plants in operation in the country which could supply 30% of the electricity. The government has the plan to further develop geothermal resources to realize the goal of non-fossil fuel energy structure in the CUSCATLAN plan put forward by President Bukele in 2019.
