On 12 September 2025, to promote unity and health awareness, the Tlokweng District Council in Gaborone collaborated with Tlokweng College of Education to host a district-wide Health Day event. Ansheng International was invited to participate, donating sanitary pads, daily necessities bags and other supplies to the local community. The initiative received support from the Government of Botswana, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and various regional international partners. Attendees included Honourable Phenyo Segokgo, Tlokweng District Councillor; staff from Tlokweng Education Department divisions; Dr Laone Pearl Selala, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in China; and representatives from Ansheng International.

The objectives of the Health Day event are:

· To disseminate fundamental health knowledge: Delivering core information on HIV prevention, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, and chronic disease management to every household, fostering community consensus that ‘prevention is better than cure’.

· To streamline accessible healthcare services: Providing on-site complimentary screenings (HIV, blood pressure, blood glucose, cervical cancer), catch-up vaccinations, GP registration, and medication distribution, enabling primary care with ‘zero legwork’.

·  Fostering grassroots physical activity: Through barrier-free initiatives like a 5km fun run, traditional dances, and ethnic sports competitions, making ‘getting active’ a new social norm accessible to all ages.

·  Developing youth health ambassadors: Forming a volunteer team from Tlokweng College students and staff, converting public health skills into community service hours to build a sustainable local health promotion force.

· Forging multi-stakeholder networks: District councils, ministries, private enterprises, religious bodies and media signed the Tlokweng Health Partnership Memorandum on-site, establishing annual joint funding and resource-sharing mechanisms to ensure health initiatives endure beyond a single day.

Advocating zero discrimination and inclusivity: Anti-stigma themed tents and community leaders undergoing public HIV testing conveyed the solidarity-based value that ‘illness is not frightening, indifference is’, fostering a supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to seek help and willing to offer mutual aid.

The donation initiative focused on women's needs, with Ansheng International distributing “hygiene kits” containing sanitary towels and personal care items to local girls and women of reproductive age. This aims to help them better manage daily health challenges and reduce issues arising from inadequate menstrual hygiene conditions. This initiative demonstrates a shared commitment to social responsibility and empowering vulnerable groups, earning high praise from both attendees and the organising body.

This event introduced a refreshing perspective on wellbeing, bringing together staff from across departments to participate in a series of dynamic sporting and team-building activities. These included athletics, egg-and-spoon races, tug-of-war, football, and volleyball. Through these team sports and recreational games, participants were able to unwind from the demands of daily public service duties, strengthen bonds, and enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.
